Love Thy Neighbor History

Love Thy Neighbor started out in 2010 when a small group of women embarked on a life-changing journey in early spring. Realizing the need for a daily feeding program for those less fortunate in our community, we partnered with The Salvation Army Lewisville Service Center to support and manage the newly installed kitchen.  The Kitchen program was born and Love Thy Neighbor became a partner with The Salvation Army of Lewisville.  That partnership lasted until the end of 2021.

LTN, along with The Salvation Army – Lewisville Center, opened the Clothing Assistance Program (CAP) in April, 2013.  Gently worn and donated clothing items are distributed at  ‘no-charge’ to qualified clients 2.5 days a week.  That program ran until the end of 2021.

In 2015, LTN merged with Newborns in Need and became that program became Love Thy Baby, the third LTN program and the first not directly related to The Salvation Army.  Love The Baby continues to run as a program under Love Thy Neighbor.  Out of Love Thy Baby, another program was born.  In 2015, Love Thy Pet was born out of a need to do something with the scrap material out of Love Thy Baby.  It was determined that there was a need for dog beds at animal shelters, rescue organizations, etc., so LTB volunteers now make dog beds with scrap material from LTB.  The Love Thy Pet program remains a program under Love Thy Baby.

Additional food/pantry and clothing programs are under discussion with Heart of the City Lewisville as well as other potential partners in the community.  Stay tuned for updates.
